π Ktm 950 Adventure Fuel Consumption
1) Measure the open-time of the fuel injection valves: lets say that you know in idle, the fuel valves are open 3ms, and in full throttle, they are open 12ms. When you know count (during one tank), how long they were open (cummulated) in the "3ms" mode, and how long in the 12ms mode, you can calculate the fuel consumption in each mode and the
KTM developed a better but more complicated and expensive solution for the Duke and 950s, the EPS system. Does exactly the same thing but - as we all know - can be deactivated in a second. An all gear run on the Dyno with a CV carbed bike immediatly reveals if the slide speed is right. On the 950 it's spot on.
Thatβs what a KTM 890 Adventure R is for. For everyone else, the set up on the Norden will be better. Average fuel consumption: 54 mpg: Annual road tax: Β£111: Annual service cost: Β£150
I managed 48miles (77kms) riding very calmly keeping he revs low in each gear on another occassion I only got 32miles (51kms). Reserve light always comes on at 160miles (256km) exactly without fail. Oil consumption is 1 ltre per 1000miles (1600kms) I thought it was a four stroke? - basically uses as much oil as a two stroke!
The 990's have the fuel pump in the tank, so the claimed capacity is only 19.5L. Unfortunately the KTM engineers didn't pass the information onto the marketing department, so the brochure is still showing 22L. The light on my 950 used to come on at 17-18L, compared to 15L on the 990, which tallies with a 2.5L drop in capacity.
The KTM 950 Adventure was designed and built by racers with the primary objective of producing a light weight, versatile machine that handled well on both dirt and pavement. The engine was designed to be light, narrow, and torquey, yet still rev freely.

INCREASED FUEL ECONOMY. Although substantially more powerful and equipped more comprehensively, the 1190 Adventure consumes about 20 per cent less fuel than its equally heavy predecessor (230 kg fully tanked, despite a smaller fuel tank). Together with an impressive 23-litre tank capacity, the range is suitable for desert use.

Corni Adventurer. It's so strange why there is much deviation on these bikes and maps when it comes to fuel consumption. I have 2009 990 and with original mufflers I had ~42mpg average. When I changed mufflers to wings with small inserts and still original map without resetting ecu or whatsoever, it run 38.5mpg.
Oddometer: 7. Location: Los Angeles. 2007 KTM 990 Adventure Fuel Pump O-ring Sizes. Smaller o-ring (radial seal): 60 mm x 3 mm buna-n. Larger o-ring (face seal): 65 mm x 3 mm buna-n. I just about finished painting and re-assembling my 990 (long story) but I sliced the radial seal o-ring on the fuel pump while trying to re-install it.
